Facilitating TB Treatment in Delhi
About
Delhi is India’s capital, with a population of 14-17 million depending on suburban agglomeration. While precise numbers do not exist, it is estimated that 4 million residents live in more than a thousand slums in Delhi, in appalling conditions and grinding poverty. Extremely high density, undernutrition, and poor access to healthcare make slum-dwellers particularly vulnerable to TB.
Our Work
Our partner, Operation ASHA, runs treatment programs for slum-dwellers in Delhi and now has 34 centers serving more than 1,100 patients. We are testing two technologies in collaboration with ASHA – an electronic medical record (EMR) system, and a biometric authentication system using fingerprints. First versions of both systems are ready, and currently undergoing user testing.
