Manish Bhardwaj, CEO, Co-Founder
Manish manages IIH’s technology portfolio, partnerships with treatment programs, and technology trials and deployment. Prior to IIH, he was a co-founder and Vice President at Engim Inc., a private venture backed wireless semiconductor startup whose IP was acquired by Edgewater Systems, Canada. Manish has published more than 30 peer reviewed papers and has won several awards including the IBM Research Fellowship, the MIT Graduate Student Council teaching award, and the Compaq Gold Medal. He is a Fellow of the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT. He has Ph.D. and S.M. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Bill Thies, Co-Founder
Bill Thies is a researcher at Microsoft Research India, where he is a member of the Technologies for Emerging Markets Group. His research focuses on inventing and applying technologies that promote socio-economic development, especially in the context of healthcare and education. Bill has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers and is a member of the Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi, and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies. He has been recognized as a Siebel Scholar, as well as a national co-winner of the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding EECS Student Award. Bill received all of his degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he finished his Ph.D. in computer science in February, 2009.
Jagdeep Gambhir
Jagdeep is the program manager of Aahan, a TB program run jointly by IIH and the Prajnopaya Foundation in Bihar, India. Prior to Aahan, he was with Goldman Sachs as a Technology Analyst. He is a co-founder of the Sparsh Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit extending financial support to students at his alma mater, NITK Surathkal. Jagdeep was also the Bangalore coordinator for Gurudakshina, a non-profit mentoring underprivileged children. Jagdeep holds an engineering degree in Information Technology from NITK.
Emma Brunskill
Emma is a postdoctoral fellow in computer science at the University of California Berkeley. She has previously worked on several international projects, including helping develop a prototype scorecard for visualizing the financial impact a Peruvian microfinance organization had on its clients, and assisting with an educational infrastructure survey in Rwanda as part of a project to distribute computers in elementary schools.
Apoorv Chaudhri
Apoorv Chaudhri is Principal Researcher at Motorola responsible for developing advanced wireless solutions, leading research and development projects and formulating technology strategy. He has authored or co-authored more than 25 issued and pending patents. Apoorv currently directs electronic medical record technology definition, development, trial and maturation at IIH.
Interns
Radhika Malik
Radhika is a sophomore at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In summer 2009, Radhika worked in Delhi with Operation ASHA, a TB treatment NGO to develop a custom electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Somani Patnaik
Somani is a junior at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In summer 2008, Somani conducted a study comparing different modes of healthcare data gathering using cell phones in Dahej, Gujarat, and also led a collaborative project with the Birla Institute of Technology, Patna to measure the quality and coverage of the cellular infrastructure in target communities in Bihar.

Sara Cinnamon, Co-Founder
Sara led the mechanical design of the uBox. She is a member of Sigma Xi and Pi Tau Sigma honors societies, and has her Master's in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley. Sara is the founder of MoyoWa Design based in San Francisco, CA.
Goutam Reddy, Co-Founder
Goutam architected the uBox solution, and designed its electronics and firmware. Goutam also co-founded Developing World Prosthetics, a non-profit to improve low-cost rehabilitation devices. He received a Master's in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), as well as B.S. degrees in Mathematics and EECS from MIT. He is currently studying medicine at the Northwestern University, Chicago, IL.
