Electronic Medical Records for TB Programs
The IIH-EMR is a solution for managing electronic records of patients in a TB treatment program. The EMR system was designed to improve productivity and reduce errors compared with current paper-based systems.
How It Works
The current system manages patient records, including dosage information, and also allows personnel and pharmacy management. A record is created for each patient starting treatment, and all evolving data – doses delivered, bacteriology reports, etc. – is recorded via electronic forms. The system generates a variety of reports required for regulatory purposes and for tracking program performance. This is particularly useful for large programs where aggregating 100s of patient records is extremely laborious and error-prone.
Progress
The first EMR version was developed for Operation ASHA, a TB treatment NGO in India that serves slum-dwellers, and is currently undergoing an on-site user study in Delhi.
