Program Manager, Aahan TB Program, Bihar
Aahan seeks a Program Manager based in Bihar, India who will be responsible for executing the program, scaling it from 30,000 to 100,000 residents, and interfacing with the public health system and the Revised National TB Control Program (RNTCP). The Manager will report to the Program Directors based in the U.S. and India.
Aahan is a program that provides world-class care to rural tuberculosis (TB) patients in Bihar. It was started by alumni of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard because the majority of 180,000 new TB cases every year in Bihar do not receive proper treatment leading to a continuing epidemic that drives families into destitution and is creating drug resistant strains of TB.
Aahan works closely with the RNTCP and the Bihar government to find cases, diagnose them and ensure reliable drug delivery. It currently serves villages in the Dalsingh Sarai area in Bihar with a population of about 28,000. It will cover a population of about 1,00,000 by the end of 2011.
Responsibilities
- Manage a staff of 8 working in Dalsingh Sarai, Bihar
- Oversee case-finding, diagnosis and drug delivery in rural Dalsingh Sarai
- Recruit and train up to 10 new staff and expand into 6 new panchayats
- Arrange TB workshops for physicians and community health workers
- Work with the RNTCP and the state government
- Maintain an electronic medical record system
- File field reports in Microsoft Word
Requirements
You must be fluent in English and Hindi, and in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); and willing to stay and work in rural areas for extended periods.Experience
